Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash is most famous for Country Music. He was born on February 26,1932. He lived in Kingsland,Arkansas for his early life but joined the Air Force and went to Texas. When he completed his service he formed a band. They got a record deal and by the 1960s Johnny Cash was a superstar. His nickname was “The Man in Black”. In 1956 he released the song “I Walk The Line” and it shot up to No. 1 on the charts.That song sold over 2 million copies. Cash joined a group called the “Million Dollar Quartet” which included Elvis Presley,Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis. In 1966 Cash got divorced and suffered serious alcohol and drug addictions. He tried to smuggle amphetamines into the US across the Mexican border and got arrested. Also, he started a forest fire in Tennessee. In 1967 he met June Carter. They started out as friends but soon got married. She helped him clean up his life and he became a devout christian.In 1969 he started his own TV show named “The Johnny Cash Show.” He had one child, John Carter Cash, in March 1970. He died on September 12,2003.
